Lavender absolute has a sweet-herbaceous, lavender odor with woody-coumarinic undertones. It has a sweeter and deeper aroma than lavender oil. The dark-colored viscous liquid is obtained by alcohol extraction of lavender concrete. The color ranges from green to dark blue.
It is used in trace quantities in sweet, balsamic-vanilla fragrances, coumarin substitutes and tobacco flavorings. Blends well with citrus oils, peppermint or spearmint and oakmoss absolute. INCI: Lavandula officinalis. Flash point: 156 deg.F.
