Galbanum essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the resin (Ferula galbaniflua, Iran)
Galbanum is said to be good for circulation, detoxification, arthritis, spasms, congestion, scars, repelling insects and in repelling parasites such as fleas, lice and bed bugs. Galbanum has a history of being used in ancient civilizations such as Greek and Roman for its earthy, woody aroma and numerous medicinal benefits.
In an arthritis or gout massage blend it will not only target the painful areas, but also detoxify them. It is said that Galbanum may speed the regeneration of new tissue and, therefore, may be useful for scars and acne.
The aroma of galbanum keeps insects away. Burn the oil in a diffuser making sure to always first add warm water to the well of the diffuser and then add a few drops of the EO to the water. You can also make a room or body spray. Galbanum may be used in hair blends to get rid of lice, mixed with a carrier oil. In aromatherapy, its used extensively to lift depression.
