Lavender 40/42 essential oil
 |
|
Lavender's aroma is floral, herbaceous, light with woody undertones. Its unique aroma has a calming effect on the user. Soothes the spirit, relieves anger, could be valuable in manic-depressive cases.
The numbers in Lavender 40/42 indicate the linalyl acetate content; in this case, they indicate the product contains 40%-42% of linalyl acetate. Lavender 40/42 is generally a blend of various lavenders in order to get a consistent scent from batch to batch, with processors adding linalyl acetate to cover the smell of camphor or borneol components of a given lavender.
Most soapers seem to prefer Lavender 40/42 because it smells the way they believe lavender should smell and it's fairly inexpensive......about half the price of other, more expensive lavenders. This is our best selling essential oil for toiletries.
Keeps insects away. Blends well with bergamot, chamomile, citronella, lemon, and pine. Flash point: 156F, OK to ship via air or ocean.

The quality of Camden's Lavender essential oil cannot be matched...it blends very well with the other oils that I use in my hair sprays and the fragrance is very pleasant and fresh. My customers especially love my Lavender hair spray.
I have been purchasing my Oils from this company for about 6 years now. I am thoroughly satisfied with the product and the price.

I have been using Lavender EO in so many ways for many years. It is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal, so it makes it great for wounds, especially as it is one of the few EOs that can be used neat on skin. It is also great for use with those with anxiety issues, depression, or just general stress. Beyond that, Lavender has such a wide variety of uses that I consider it THE ESSENTIAL OIL in anyone's "kit".

I have been ordering the Lavender 40/42 essential oil from Camden-Grey for about 4 years and the scent has been very consistent for an essential oil. It does have a bit more of a menthol scent than the "fine french" variety, but is excellent when used in soapmaking.

The underlying scent of camphor still comes through in Lavandula officinalis. While it is a reasonably priced oil for inclusion in soaps, lotions, etc., I was surprised at its rather "medicinal" scent. While more expensive, the Lavandula angustifolia has a more subtle, pleasing aroma.
Reply from Camden-Grey: Since 1998 we have been offering Lavender 40/42 from the same distiller, it's our #1 selling Lavender essential oil. Its staying power and wonderful aroma in finished products are two of the reasons customers keep reordering this EO.
