Dead Sea Mud

1 lb. ($6.50)
2 lbs. ($9.95)

Quantity:

Even though it’s called the Dead Sea, this sea and the whole region on its shore is very much alive. The Dead Sea lies some 400m below sea level at the lowest point on the earth's surface, and is a part of the Syrian-East African Rift Valley. The Dead Sea is one of the most saline lakes in the world, fed mainly by the Jordan river in the north and by perennial springs and streams from the east and west. Having no outlet, the Dead sea is a "terminal lake" which loses huge amounts of water by evaporation into the hot dry air and this results in high concentrations of salts and minerals in a unique composition that is particularly rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium, bromine and various others. The Dead Sea brine's chemical composition reflects erosion, as well as the recycling of older deposits. Leaching of minerals from the geological strata also contributes to the Dead Sea brine and to a number of thermomineral springs along its shores. In addition, alluvial deposits form the much valued Dead Sea mineral mud, also known as Dead Sea therapeutic mud. The uniqueness of the Dead Sea has been known for centuries. This is the only place in the world with this particular combination of exclusive spa benefits: peculiar sun radiation and climatic conditions, enriched oxygen atmosphere, mineral-rich salt sea, thermomineral springs, and mineral-rich mud. In days of old, Dead Sea water and salt were imported to Italy by Roman nobles. Judean asphalt, the bituminous substance rising to the surface of the lake, was used for many industrial and medicinal purposes. Plants growing in lakeside oases, especially the balsam tree, produced valuable and highly sought-after cosmetics, perfumes and medicinal substances. Their value were of such great economic importance that wars were fought for their possession, as when Mark Anthony conquered the Dead Sea area for Cleopatra. The Dead Sea’s most precious resource famous for thousands of years -Dead Sea Mud - comes to you in a totally pure state. Containing a huge range of highly concentrated minerals to smooth on your body, it enhances and protects your skin, keeping it young looking and safe from environmental hazards. Our Dead Sea Mud is not a powder product, it’s a thick mixture of Dead Sea Mud and nourishing water from the Dead Sea. It removes excess oil and dead cells from the skin surface. Directions: Apply a generous layer of Dead Sea mud over the body areas of your choice. Leave on for fifteen to twenty minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. For deeper soothing of joints, heat the mud packet in a pan of hot water or in the microwave for one minute at medium heat before use. Please check temperature of mud before use. Revitalize the whole body. Do not apply to open wounds, for external use only. If you find that the mud needs to be liquified, please add distilled water (not tap water), spring water, or any other nourishing liquid such as honey, yogurt or fruit juice.

Ingredients: Pure Dead Sea Mud with its own nourishing liquid mixed in.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 This is a must-try -- it is FABULOUS!, 1.30.2010
Reviewer: Liz (Chapel Hill, NC)

I got 8oz packaged in a polystyrene jar with a screw on lid. The large mouth was very convenient for scooping out the mud, which I did with a plastic spoon but I think a long-handled formulator's spatula of some kind would probably be better. The mud itself has no scent that I could detect other than the faint cool chalky scent of the clay. It is heavy, viscous & sticky & will stick to any & every thing it touches (easier to remove after it dries). The texture is just fantastic, luxuriously creamy, with scattered tiny chunks of rock or salt or undissolved clay. It makes a superb facial mask for exfoliation, stimulating circulation, drawing out of toxins & skin smoothing. It was not uncomfortable nor overly drying. I also masked a patch of touch dermatitis with it several times & it has helped immeasurably there, the skin is pink now rather than red & healing is well underway. I highly recommend this product! I will definitely repurchase as soon as it becomes available.
