Phenonip is a broad spectrum liquid preservative for yeast, fungi and bacteria which is approved as safe for use in the EU and Japan. It is odorless and colorless and has a low irritancy history. It is made up of the following components:

phenoxyethanol (CAS # 122-99-6)
methylparaben (CAS # 99-76-3)
butylparaben (CAS # 94-26-8)
ethylparaben (CAS # 120-47-8)
propylparaben (CAS # 94-13-3)

Standard usage rate is 0.25% to 1.0%. Phenonip is not required in bar soap, salves, bath bombs or bath salts. In liquid soap or in clays use at a rate of .1% to .5%, in creams and lotions use at a rate of .1% to .4%, in body mists use at a rate of .1% to .2%. This preservative may be used at higher heat levels without losing effectiveness and is highly recommended for salt scrubs and oil-based products, although it will also perform in water-based products. It’s effective in a pH range of 3-8. Soluble in both oil and water, heat water to 139 to 157 deg. F to properly dissolve Phenonip.
