    Fruit from the Andiroba tree contains kernels (seeds) which are rich in oil. This oil is cold pressed and is slightly viscous in its composition, the color is pale yellow although the color may vary from batch to batch. Andiroba seed oil is considered antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and a dental agent. Andiroba seed oil has been used for centuries in traditional rainforest medicine to aid in the healing of topical skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, rashes, burns and acne. It is rich in fatty acids and glycerides and, together with its healing properties, provides an excellent natural moisturizing base for skin care formulations.

    Andiroba seed oil is a quick penetrating oil with exceptional anti-inflammatory activity, making it ideal as a massage oil or as a carrier oil for treatment products. Andiroba Oil also is used as a natural insect repellant.

    Both of these attributes originate from the presence of unusually high levels of circulation promoting compounds called Limonoids, including Andirobin first discovered in Andiroba Oil which has soothing and antiallergenic properties. With its sweet and earthy odor and unique skin feel, this Brazilian rainforest oil will be an exotic and effective addition to your personal care formulations.

    Use Levels: Lotions and Creams: 3-10% , Balms: 5-10% , Natural Insect Repellants 5-10% Hair Conditioners 2-5%.

    INCI: Carapa guianensis (Andiroba) Nut Oil. Country of origin: Brazil. Shelf life: 9 months to 1 year when stored tightly sealed in a cool place away from heat and direct light.

    If, during very cold weather, you receive this oil frozen, please set it aside at room temperature until it returns to its normal state. If you choose to purchase this oil in a jug, please place the jug in a sunny area to quickly make it liquid or place the open jug in very warm or hot water until liquid.

    My daughter has a very sensitive skin with dry patches. After reading about andiroba oil, I've decided to buy it and use it in my body butter. i am fascinated with this oil, it cleaned my daughters dry patches without making her skin oily. I'll try it in a soap and come back with another review!

    The synergy of this oil in blends for clients with outbreaks of various skin issues is amazing. I would probably not use it in acne preps as there are other oils and blends more compelling. It requires agitation to incorporate it prior to application which is why it is essential to blend with more emulsifying oils, but that action seems to bring a communion between client and oil in the agreement towards healing. Alone, it is remarkable in it's own right. I use essentials for their therapeutic qualities, so fragrance is secondary to me. I always advise my clients to "plan accordingly" if they find the aroma a bit off putting. But I find this oil, though not floral or fruity to be acceptable in company.
    Amazing results

    I had never heard of Andiroba oil until I found it while browsing here on Camden-Grey. I have very dry skin, and also very sensitive skin. So I need a good moisturizing/healing lotion, but can't buy commercial products because of my sensitivity to the chemicals. I am going to try making my own moisturizer, so I ordered this oil as a potential ingredient. When it arrived, I put a small amount on my face, hands, and arms. The oil is a semisolid oil at room temperature, but melts very quickly on skin contact. I loved how it felt going on--the best comparison I can make is to the silky feeling of olive oil. The next day the improvement in my skin was almost unbelievable. It has a faint waxy woody scent.
    Miraculous

    This oil is great on bumps and bruises, my son has injured his fingers three times playing football and each time I apply andiroba oil to his fingers and within 2-3 days he can bend his fingers. It's great I won't be without it anymore, and CG is where I'll only purchase it. Thank you CG wonderful product.

    This oil is reputed to have anti-fungal properties, so I plan to use it in a skin cream. It does have a bit of an unpleasant smell, but not nearly as much as tamanu oil. It absorbs pretty quickly into the skin and the smell fades over time.

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
