Palm red, butter/oil
descriptionRed Palm Butter: Some may call this a butter, others an oil. Its state fluctuates from solid to partially solid to fully liquid depending on the ambient temperature. This is an orange/red palm oil/butter made from the fruit of Elaeis guineensis. It is edible, wildcrafted and will provide color and emollient qualities to your toiletries. This product contains lots of natural vitamins and antioxidants, its high content of carotenoids gives the oil/butter its beautiful orange/red color. May also be used as is on the skin and hair. This oil has its own particular, faint, pleasant aroma.
This input has been provided by one of our customers, we hope it assists you in making an informed purchasing decision: Palm oil has been used in the hair for African-American women as a pre-oil treatment and then washed out. It makes our hair type extremely soft. We also make hair creams with it using other butters like shea and mango and other oils. It has a tendency to stain and has its own aroma, this is why we either use it as a pre-hair treatment or we mix it with other butters. However, traditionally in Africa it is a cooking oil. Its high vitamin E content prevents it from going rancid, it is also high in beta carotenes.
SAP value 199. Shelf life when stored in a cool place away from heat and light: min. 1.5 years. INCI: Elaeis guineensis. Extraction: Cold pressed, unrefined.
For Birds: It appears that this oil/butter is fed to birds to provide them with various essential fatty acids including omega 3 and 6, as well as to improve skin conditions and feather dryness. If you decide to purchase for your bird this or any other product on our site, please note that every product which ships out of our warehouse will have some sort of aroma impregnated in the box, products and packing materials. We will not accept returns based on this and we will not be responsible for any consequences your bird may suffer due to these aromas. We strongly suggest that once you receive the product you remove the lid and leave it to air itself out for a few days before feeding it to your bird.

best pre-shampoo hair treatment
I have used this oil on a weekly basis for many months now as a deep conditioning treatment before washing my fine hair. If you can get over the smell and the fact that it stains clothes, this is far superior to any other oil (including coconut) for conditioning prior to shampooing. It washes out well, even though the lather will become bright orange while you shampoo. Once my hair is dry, it has extra bounce and volume and feels rejuvenated.

Every type 4 natural needs this oil!
As soon as I received this oil I decided to wash my hair just so I could do an oil rinse. I washed my hair with my lavender castile soap and after I rinsed that out, I saturated my hair with this red palm oil and let it sit under a plastic cap for an hour... When I tell you...that my hair...was MOISTURIZED! Lol. This oil plays no games! After further research, I found out that this oil has benefits if it is ingested. I now take between 1-3 teaspoons of this daily. It is awesome for the skin as well. I like to rub this into my face and neck before I go to bed at night. I wake up glowing!

I do love this butter/oil! It does stain as everyone said, only problem with that for me is if it stains on my things, but I don't mind it so much for my skin. Doesn't last long anyway, esp. if you rub it all the way in your skin. Gives a nice color for my complexion. I do love how it gives my hair a beautiful feel. I use it as a pre-poo as well as a oil rinse, does wonders. The smell doesn't bother me too much either, but everyone tolerance is different. I heard people cook with this as well, and will be trying that soon. Definitely will continue to buy this product.

I like this oil a lot. I used it on my sisters hair as well as my own and made it so soft. Great for moisture. I gave it a four because I can't stand the smell, but I can live with it because this oil does a good job on my sisters hair and mine.

HOW TO STORE: Upon receipt, EO's dispensed in plastic bottles MUST be transferred into amber glass bottles. EO's, FO's and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Many oils could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames.
