Salt, powder, pink/beige, 1 lb.

Similar to the quality of sand found in the world-famous beaches of Destin, Florida, this salt is tightly packed and is a beautiful pale pink color with minerals particles of darker and different colors. No anti-caking agents are used in this all natural salt, at times it needs to be kneaded or gently broken up. Due to its extreme fineness, this salt is excellent for skin scrubs, including facials when used with care. Due to its fineness it’s also used for facial scrubs. This salt contains more than 50 natural trace minerals essential to human health, including natural iodine. This salt is beautiful when used in bath scrubs and other bath products. This salt is edible and is found in many supermarkets in the gourmet salts section; it provides many of the minerals not found in ordinary table salt. Salt cures aren't new. In the early 19th Century, sick people traveled to rudimentary spas such as French Lick Springs in Indiana and Big Bone Lick, Kentucky, to soak in salt springs. Today's more luxurious spas offer salt baths, glows, rubs and polishes to exfoliate dead skin, stimulate circulation and relieve stress. The ordinary table salt that most of us eat is too refined; it lacks the minerals we need. Also, yellow prussiate of soda and other additives and preservatives are added to prevent caking, dextrose is even added to improve flavor. About half of all table salt is supplemented with potassium iodide, which wards off goiter. Our pink salt contains 50 natural occurring trace minerals like calcium, potassium, sulphur, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, copper, iodine and zinc. Our pink salt is Kosher-certified and is of U.S. origin. INCI: Sodium chloride

Salt, spa, medium, European, 1 lb.

Our white European sea salt has its origins in the Mediterranean Sea. This salt is all natural and is created by evaporating sea salt. It has a certain sparkle and shine and, occasionally, we have found tiny pieces of seashells. At times it has a wonderful ocean smell. Makes a wonderful ingredient in bath salts either alone or mixed with other types of salts. No artificial ingredients in this salt, no anti-caking agents, it rarely clumps. This salt is edible and is full of good-for-you minerals. INCI: Sodium chloride (sea salt).

Baking soda 5 lbs.(powder)

Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate USP) is an alkaline salt. In addition to making cakes rise, sodium bicarbonate is found in over-the-counter antacids, toothpaste, fire extinguishers, and many other products. Sodium bicarbonate is used to treat or prevent excess acid in the blood or urine. It also can reduce stomach acids and, therefore, can be used as an antacid to treat heartburn or indigestion and is used to relieve sour stomach or acid indigestion by neutralizing excess stomach acid. When used for this purpose, it is said to belong to the group of medicines called antacids. It may be used to treat the symptoms of stomach or duodenal ulcers. Also, since the 1930's, it has been taken by some athletes to increase the speed and recovery in relatively short events, those lasting from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Toiletries applications: Pure baking soda can be used as an all natural tooth powder and can be diluted in warm water to gargle. It’s used as an additive in bath salts and body scrubs. It’s used as a body deodorant and as an ingredient in body powders. It’s one of the main ingredients in fizzy bath bombs (see basic recipe below). Other applications: Food & food processing, beverages , pharmaceuticals, animal foodstuffs , household cleaning products, rubber & plastics foam blowing, fire extinguishers & explosion suppression, effluent & water treatment, flue gas treatment, oil drilling, and industrial & chemical processes. Dry Ingredients: 1 cup baking soda _ cup citric acid _ cup corn starch Optional: 1/3 cup Epsom salts Wet Ingredients: 2 _ T. light vegetable oil (almond oil or sunflower) 3/4 T. water 1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of essential or fragrance oils 1/4 teaspoon borax (emulsifier ) mica or other natural colorant if you wish Sieve the first three dry ingredients together until you get a smooth blend. After sieving, add the sea salts or epsom salts if you have decided to use them. Epsom salt adds a bit of sheen to the fizzy, might make for a more vigorous fizzing action and does shorten the drying time. Set aside dry ingredients while you prepare the wet. Measure and combine all the wet ingredients and borax in a small clean jar or ziplock bag and shake vigorously. Slowly and carefully drizzle the wet ingredients into the dry, stirring constantly with your other hand to prevent the reaction from starting. Make sure you mix in all of the wet ingredients. You will find the mixture will be very dry and crumbly. It has to be packed into the molds quite firmly to keep the shape. The mixture should just start to hold together when pressed in your hand, like very slightly moist fine flour pressed together. Make sure it is well mixed and try to work quickly so that it doesn't dry out too much before you mold it. There’s usually no need to oil the molds. If using a round mold, such as a hanging ornament, pack each side of the mold promptly then sprinkle some loose mixture on top and press the halves together as hard as you can without twisting. Smooth the seams and remove any excess material. Molds should be clean and dry. .

Borax powder, 2 lbs.

Since the late 1800s when borax was first mined in Death Valley, California, households all over have used a product known as 20 Mule Team Borax as a laundry booster and multipurpose cleaning agent for everything from cleaning hair brushes to removing stains from clothes or carpets to cleaning toilet bowls. Toiletrymakers use borax as an emulsifier in conjunction with beeswax (ration 18:1 beeswax to borax) and as a natural preservative in making products such as creams and lotions. It’s considered a mild alkali when used in lotions and shaving creams, may prevent skin irritation and may act as a water softener. Borates are used in some specialty toothpaste and muthwash products. By far, the largest use of borate today in oral hygiene is in the denture cleaning products area. Borates have been used in a variety of powdered and liquid shampoos as well as hair conditioners. Borax is fequently added in small quantities to eye drops or artificial tear products to provide pH control and moisture retention. This is “technical grade” 10 Mol white powdered borax (sodium tetraborate decahydrate), odorless nad tasteless. INCI: sodium borate. Storage: avoid wide fluctuations in temperature and humidity, store under normal storage conditions. Melting point 62C/144F.

Dendritic salt, 2 lbs.

Dendritic salt is a natural salt which absorbs essential and fragrance oils much more efficiently than other salts. Its formulation prevents caking and retains the scent in bath salts much longer than regular salts do which allows your products to have a longer shelf life. Add your essential or fragrance oils to the dendritic salt, mix well, and then add this mixture to the rest of your salt mixture. It is said that dendritic salt dissolves at more than twice the rate of conventional salts. Recommended usage: Use 1 cup of dendritic salt for every 20 cups of the other salts in your recipe. INCI: Sodium Chloride. This product has a long shelf life if it’s kept away from moisture and humidity.

Cream of Tartar, 4 oz.

Cream of tartar is the common name for potassium hydrogen tartrate, an acid salt that has a number of uses in cooking. In toiletries, it’s used in making bath bombs, bath fizzies or bubble baths to make the bubbles last longer, many say cream of tartar will stabilize bath bombs and make them last approximately 30 minutes.

It is best known in our kitchens for helping to stabilize and give more volume to beaten egg whites and is the acidic ingredient in some brands of baking powder. It is also used to produce a creamier texture in sugary desserts such as candy and frosting. It is used commercially in some soft drinks, candies, bakery products, gelatin desserts, and photography products. Cream of tartar can also be used to clean brass and copper cookware by making a soft paste and applying. It is also used to reduce discoloration in boiled vegetables such as artichokes-just add half a teaspoon to the water. Store well sealed in a dry location at room temperature. Shelf life: Almost unlimited when properly stored.
