pleasantly stimulating, and healing to sinuses
I didn't know what to do with Elemi at first until I was drawn to it with a head cold. It made me feel much better after I rubbed it on my sinuses. It smells a little citrusy and not overly piney. It mixed well with Ylang Ylang which is relaxing and helped me sleep. I'm going to try this lovely combination in soap!
To me this does not smell like pickles at all but rather like a citrus-herbaceous aroma, which is at the same time softer and of course not as camphorous as the more typical oils used for cold remedies, such as eucalyptus and oregano. I had long wanted to try this oil for aromatherapy and was ever so pleased with the scent when I received it. As an added benefit, CG's price on this oil is the best you will find anywhere. I had looked into other sources before ordering this one. You can't go wrong here.
Since I rarely eat pickles, I can't comment on the dill pickle scent, but to me, the first word that comes to mind is refreshing. What stands out for me with this oil is that it stimulates the immune system. Since I'm currently suffering from a cold and know many others who are in the same situation, this is a vital oil to have in your cold and flu defense arsenal.
Love this EO
I had no idea this smelled so good. The pickle smell that others mention is not that obvious to me. It's more sweet & citrus with some spicy and earthy notes in the background. I keep sniffing the bottle and can't wait to try this in bath & body products. Might be my favorite EO now. Hopefully the scent will hold with it's low flashpoint.
a bit pickled...
The description is accurate. It does have some 'pickle' aroma, and I'm not sure what to do with it...lol. It's not that's it bad, I just haven't found a use for it yet in my formulas, but I will. It has a very unique 'nose' and deserves its place. I'll keep trying to figure this mysterious oil out.
I was a little weary of this oil and had been avoiding it as I've heard others describe it as the scent of a dill pickle. That is slightly true but it really has a wonderful fresh slightly citrus, herbaceous aroma. I wanted to broaden my horizons and I'm glad I did - I really love it! Once again, camden grey's price was unbelievably competitive and it's working for what I need it for.
