Used mainly in perfumery, Clary Sage absolute offers a deep, partially sweet and pungent herbaceous aroma along with base notes of hay and tobacco. As with all absolutes, it’s 100% soluble in alcohol but not in a carrier oil.
This absolute is used as a fixative for numerous types of perfumes such as fougere, chypre, amber bases, colognes and high-class florals. It has great fixative values. Blends well with essential oils of palmarosa, rosemary, geraniu, grapefruit, sandalwood and spruce.
NOTE: This is a very thick absolute, dark green in color whose color could vary from batch to batch. Flash point: 201F. Shipping Precautions: None. INCI: Savia sclarea absolute.

I always carry some on me.
Cistus absolute is very thick, dark and dense. The smell is very sweet and smooth. I find it smell like honey. Honey that would have some soft floral and green sides. It’s syrupy and mouthwatering, with maybe a little powdery side. After the initial effect, you can smell light notes of smoke – sweet smoke that is very calming and comforting. Due to its very thick consistency, you will need to warm it to make it a little more manageable. The smell is very persistent and last for a very long time. I always carry some on me in a small vial and I smell it when I’m getting stressed and I immediately feel better.

This was one of the free samples I got with my order and I LOVED IT! It was exactly what I was looking for and ambery and warm scent. I am curious how it smells compared to the essential oil.

This is less amber-y than the traditional labdanum that I have become accustomed to and is much more sweet - super sticky too! I heated & blended it with a thick resinous labdanum and some other oils to make a dark amber base; it is heavenly and my customers absolutely adore it.

I have several other versions of cistus/labdanum and this has become my favorite. This is a bit 'dryer' and more 'transparent' smelling than some and is easier to blend without it becoming overwhelming or mucky-smelling. Warmly resinous, sensual yet clean.
