    Macadamia integrifolia: This tree is native to Australia. Also known as Queensland nut oil, this cold pressed oil is high in palmitoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid that acts as an antioxidant, preventing deterioration of cell membranes. For mature skin it is hydrating and gentle. It is a skin lubricant and is easily absorbed by the skin, sometimes described as a vanishing oil. Helpful in cases of sunburn and wound healing. This oil has a long shelf life and good resistance to rancidity. It also has a mild laxative action. Macadamia nut oil contains about 80% monounsaturated fatty acids and a higher percentage of palmitoleic acid than other vegetable oils. Palmitoleic acid does not occur in any other plant oil. SAP value: 195.0. INCI: Macadamia integrifolia (Macadamia nut) seed oil.

    At 3%, macadamia oil is the lowest of all culinary oils in polyunsaturated Omega 6 fatty acids (olive oil=8%, canola=23%). Excessive Omega 6 Fatty Acids may have an adverse impact on blood clotting, immune function & inflammation. Monounsaturates tend to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels but do not change HDL (good) cholesterol levels. Polyunsaturates lower both. Macadamia oil is 55-67% oleic acid. Oleic acid apparently increases the incorporation of omega-3 fatty acids into cell membranes. This oil is low in saturated fat (approximately 14%, of which roughly 26% is benign Stearic acid). Because of its high smoke point and monounsaturated level, Macadamia oil is least likely to develop the unhealthful trans fatty acids and lipid peroxides when heated. Can be used for stir-fry because of its very high smoke point 410F. (Depending on quality and age, olive oil breaks down at less than 325̊). Macadamia oil has a very long shelf life due to the high natural levels of monounsaturates (that limit the points where oxygen can attack) and antioxidants (that restrict oxidation).

    I had bought Macadamia Oil in a cooking store before and used it to cook with. I now wonder what I was getting. The oil I purchased here is thinner and absorbs into my skin and hair much quicker. This is an amazing oil for the price. I thought only a few oils absorbed into the hair. I was wrong. I see other oils I want to try now. I'll be more careful where I buy my oils now. Lesson learned.

    I've made a whipped body butter with mango butter and some macadamia nut oil that is wonderful for winter -- extremely emollient -- and yet the macadamia nut oil renders it not too greasy.
    Fabulous oil

    I hadn't heard of this oil before, but it worked absolutely wonderfully as a replacement for jojoba oil in my recipes. I also used it for infusions.

    Wow! Macadamia Oil isn't just great for your skin and hair. The high smoke point and mild flavor make Macadamia Oil perfect for cooking. It adds just a bit of mild, nutty flavor to popcorn and doesn't overwhelm stir-fries with a heavy, oily taste. I will be ordering again.
    Makes luxurious CP soap!

    Hands down, this is my absolute FAVORITE liquid oil to use in CP soap! When my previous supply of macadamia oil ran out, I reformulated my recipe with olive oil as a replacement and was truly surprised by the stark difference in the quality of the finished product. Used at a rate of approximately 17%, macadamia oil yielded a noticeably harder, smoother, longer-lasting bar with a more buttery texture and a luxuriously rich lather. Yes, it is pricier than many of the customary soapmaking oils, but I can assure you that it produces CP soap of INCOMPARABLE quality. Try it and be "spoiled" for life!

    Was very pleased with this oil. I was afraid of it smelling like nuts but pleased that it wasn't. I am looking forward to using this in a body butter. I am a very pleased customer.

    The oil color is a beautiful golden brown. It provides the right balance of moisture on both my hair and skin. I add it to a spray bottle with 1/4 oil and 3/4 distilled water and use it to mist my natural hair. I use it on my toddlers natural hair with very good results - minimal tangles with a light hair sheen. Very reasonably priced through Camden. This is a staple I'll continue to order from Candem.
    Very light oil!

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
