Camelina oil, Bulk
Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz, U.S.. Sold by weight. (Not to be confused with Camellia Oil.) This oil is obtained by cold pressing from the seed of Camelina sativa. It is a yellow oil with a flowery odor and a pleasant taste with considerable shelf stability. Its also known as false flax, linseed dodder or gold-of-pleasure.
Records of plant cultivation date back as far as the Iron Age as the oil was used as a source of fuel as well as a skin moisturizer. Research shows that Camelina oil has good skin softening properties. The oil is emollient, has good spreading properties, provides lubricity in both hair and skin preparations and improves skin elasticity. Camelina oil can be used as a replacement for sperm whale oil in lipsticks and other solid products.
This oil has a mild nutty flavor ideal for salad dressings. The revival of interest in camelina oil is due to its high linolenic acid (38%) content. Linolenic acid is one of the Omega-3 fatty acids which are generally found in substantial commercial quantities only in linseed (flax) and fish oils. Camelina offers an opportunity to supply the growing demand for high quality edible oils rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. The oil contains 35% to 40% linolenic acid compared to 8% in canola and 1% or less in soy bean and corn oils.
Camelina oil does not deteriorate during refining or storage like linseed (flax) oil or fish oil and can be used in a number of oil based products such as spreads and salad dressings. Camelina oil, unlike linseed and fish oil, is oxidatively stable and palatable. This is food grade oil purchased from us directly from the grower/distiller. SAP value: 187.0.

HOW OILS ARE DISPENSED: All our products are dispensed by weight. EO's in 8 oz. through 2 lbs. - amber plastic pharmaceutical-grade bottle. EO's in 5 and 10 lbs. - heavy duty plastic container w/pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the container at least 2 months. EO's in sizes of 25+ lbs. - industry-standard metal or plastic can with a pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the metal can indefinitely and up to 2 months in the plastic pail. It's our decision in which type of pail we dispense the product, metal cans are not readily available. CARRIER OILS - plastic bottles/pails depending on the size ordered, do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so. FO's - in plastic containers, contents do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so.
Essential oils in sizes from ½ oz. to 4 oz. are dispensed in amber glass bottles without orifice reducers or glass droppers. If we ever run out of amber glass bottles, we reserve the right to use any other glass bottle available at that time. The only sizes of EO's dispensed with orifice reducers are 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 oz. sizes. If you require bottles/vials with orifice reducers or Eurodroppers, we sell those separately.
HOW TO STORE: Upon receipt, EO's dispensed in plastic bottles MUST be transferred into amber glass bottles. EO's, FO's and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Many oils could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle and store products.
