    Plant Part: Flower

    Country of Origin: U.K.

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

    Also known as Sweet chamomile, English chamomile and Nobel chamomile. The aroma of this oil is sweet, herby, fruity and apple-like. The oil may be very pale blue when first distilled, then it turns a pale yellow color.

    Roman chamomile is generally used to treat psychological problems and is said to be beneficial for people who are short tempered, self involved, overly sensitive or rarely satisfied. It is a traditional remedy for children and is recommended when they are feeling impatient or tense. A 1% dilution of Roman chamomile oil in apricot kernel or any other carrier oil will be very useful as a massage oil over the abdomen if the child suffers from colic or around the cheeks if the child suffers from teething pain. It is useful as a mild sedative for children.

    While Roman chamomile's anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic effects are less than those of German chamomile, it also has anti-inflammatory properties. Roman chamomile is a useful oil for women with irregular periods and PMS, ideally used in a bath or massage oil. Both have analgesic, antidepressant, antirheumatic and sedative properties. Blends well with bergamot, jasmine, palmarosa, rose and ylang ylang. Flash point: 143.6 F.

    Complex and delicious.

    I find this scent very complex. At first it smells like dry straw or dry hay, with a little hint of spice. That herbaceous side doesn’t last for very long and quickly evolves into something very syrupy. It has a texture of thick and sweet fruit syrup – like dried plums or raisins. It reminds me of the syrup my grand-mother used to make for her raisin tarts. It’s very delicious at that stage. Then the raisin-like scent evolves again a bit and smells like a freshly opened jar of chopped tobacco. It brings me so many memories. I love this scent so much.

    Since the price of Chamomile has sky-rocketed, I ordered a very small quantity of this and ended up using most if it in bath salts. This is a very nice well distilled oil with exceptional healing and soothing qualities. Absolutely wonderful to add to rose hip seed and frankincense oils for a superb healing and lifting face oil for flawless skin. I use it every night and I love it.

    Among the "blue oils", it is often difficult to find pure quality. I have ordered Roman Chamomile from other suppliers but this oil from CG is superior in purity. I find the scent of Roman Chamomile the most pleasing of all chamomile varieties. I have used this particular product in blends for skin blemishes with great success but I also like to use it for massage oil blends before sleeping, along with a bit of lavender and bergamot.

    I really enjoy this oil and it is a wonderfully powerful healing oil & worth it's weight in Gold! I keep all the chamomiles on hand and also extract the flowers into base oils for various applications. I have several male clients who have fallen in love with this oil due to its healing properties. You just can't go wrong with this oil or with German Chamomile! I can't wait until my business grows more and I can buy the largest bottle CG offers! This is something everyone should keep in their cabinet!

    So many uses for this oil. The scent right out of the bottle wasn't what I expected, but once I used it it mellowed out to be exactly what I was imagining. It has been great in my bedtime blend for my daughters, as well as for helping my teething baby.
    Soothing to skin and mind

    I really can't get enough of this on its own. I often crave sniffs straight from the bottle when feeling overwhelmed. It's been very nice for soothing and healing inflamed skin though I hear one should avoid if allergic to ragweed (have yet to verify this). It's far different from the blue chamomile, much more agreeable to my nose though I do also love the blue. I use for skin as well as sleep and nerve-calm blends. So incomparably pleasant!
    So soothing

    I love this Roman Chamomile. You just can't beat Camden's price!! It blends wonderfully with the Lavender 40/42 I purchased from Camden as well. Most calming blend ever.

    So difficult to find a cost effective good quality Roman Chamomile - thank you Camden Grey for coming through once again! This oil has wonderful anti-inflammatory qualities for the skin and is a must have for any herbal medicine cabinet or aromatherapy collection.

    Having experienced a couple Roman Chamomile EO's from other suppliers, I prefer Camden Greys EO hands down. Even suttle differences in Chamomile oils can make a big difference in it's 'pleasing' factor and this one definitely wins out in my book! If it's possible to become 'addicted' to an EO, this would be the one for me. I fear EVER being without it. I just placed a 4 oz. order for myself for personal use and sharing alone! Mixed with about 5 - 6 parts Lavender and you're reminded every single time that there is a Lord and God in our midst! Thank you Camden Grey!

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
