5/8/24: For the time being, we’ve decided to discontinue all cocoa butters because our costs for these products have almost tripled.  Once costs return to normalcy we’ll be offering these butters again.

Our cocoa butter is pure, food grade, prime pressed, golden. This product is sold by us for skin care applications. Cocoa butter is a fabulous addition for balms, lotions, creams, and soaps because of cocoa butter s softening and skin-healing properties. Cocoa butter has a beautiful light aroma of chocolate.

If you need to make a harder bar of soap, cocoa butter may be the answer for you. Most lip balms and massage butters require cocoa butter for firmness. It is the perfect butter for massaging daily into fast-growing pregnant bellies to try to prevent stretch marks from developing, it starts melting quickly upon skin contact.

In soapmaking, cocoa butter should be used along with more easily absorbed unsaturated oils such as olive, jojoba, castor, or avocado. A soap made with too high a percentage of cocoa butter will be hard and prone to cracking. Limit cocoa butter to approx. 15% of your total fats and oils. Use it to counterbalance the stickiness of certain fats such as shea butter. SAP value: 193.8. INCI: Theobroma Cacao.

NOTE posted 2/9/16: In all the years we’ve been offering butters, we’ve never, ever had a complaint from a customer indicating she was very displeased that her 5 lbs. bag of cocoa butter included what she described as chips and crumbs. We’re posting this information for all customers who’re considering purchase any of our harder, crumblier butters such as cocoa butter and kokum.

These butters come to us in 55 lb. blocks or other blocks of similar large sizes. Our clerks chip away at the blocks to obtain the various sizes in which the butters are sold. This is not an easy job and it’s very time consuming. We’re informing you in advance that any hard, crumbly butter you may order from us could arrive with chunks mixed in with much smaller beads or chips.

If this is not an option for you, then please consider ordering the largest block available which will ship to you exactly as received from the manufacturer, it’ll be a machine-extruded solid block from which you’ll have to cut the size you need. All sales are final, we will not accept returns of any butters which arrived at their destinations with chunks, beads and chips.

    Best Cocoa Butter EVER!!
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

This is hands down the best cocoa butter of all times. Though my CG order was wrapped in layers of plastic (the best packing job I've ever seen btw), I could smell the cocoa butter OUTSIDE the box! Not only was the smell potent but it was mouth watering! In the past I have never cared for the smell of cocoa butter, but I completely changed my mind after smelling CGs. So much so in fact that I have changed my recipes to showcase this luscious butter. The amazing price makes it even better! I will seriously never order cocoa butter from any other company.
Smells almost good enough to eat!

Used this product for my body butters and lotions. It smells just like chocolate without all the fat! I like using this butter during the winter months to moisturize winter skin.
Yummmm! Perfect for those who love chocolate!

After four years of ordering and using camden's Prime Cocoa Butter, I've yet to be disappointed by the rich, sweet scent or moisturizing power of this unrefined butter! It been wonderful in making deliciously moisturizing body butters for the nw's drying winters. Even more exciting I'll share two of my favorite combinations for this butter! Whipped with Camden's raw shea butter, virgin coconut oil then added wildcrafted lemongrass and lavender essential oils creates a sweet, citrusy and creamy body butter. And even better in a emulsified thick cream with hazelnut oil, rosewater, aloe and added benzoin absolute and rose absolute--- I can't get over the scent of roses and nutella this combo creates!
    Great quality butter

Camden grey is my newest go-to supplier for coco a butter, now. I was so pleased when I opened the package and it smelled just like chocolate! The scent is tad strong, but nothing a little fragrance oil or essential oil can't fix. The one thing I wish I had anticipated when I bought it was just how hard the cocoa butter was. My next order of cocoa butter will be melted as a whole and then pour into mini silicone molds. That will make it much easier to weigh and portion when making products.
    Deep cocoa smell

This has a true cocoa smell. It's nice and firm and very moisturizing. It has that rich brown light ochre color. It's not crumbly either
    Very moisturizing, lovely scent

This cocoa butter is really delightful to work with. It has a wonderful scent that leaves a finished product smelling faintly of chocolate but not overwhelming, even at 50% of the recipe. It also feels lovely on the skin - very moisturizing.
    The BEST quality cocoa butter!

I've ordered from quite a few soap/lotion supply companies, but Camden Grey has always been consistent with quality. This cocoa butter is no exception. I love the sweet, chocolately smell and smooth texture of this butter not to mention the great skincare benefits it offers! You can't go wrong ordering from this company.
    Love the feel and smell!

I tried this for the first time and I love it! Beautiful firm texture although it melts easily on contact and makes a lovely cream. It is luxurious and smooth, mixes well with other oils, and I will use it from now on. It has a wonderful chocolate smell that I didn't believe until I opened up the bag to smell it!! A word of warning on the smell though ... it will overpower most of the essential oils or fragrance oils that you add to it ... if you want to use the chocolate smell as part of your fragrance, it is truly wonderful, but if you want the texture and feel of cocoa butter but want to add your own (delicate) fragrance to it, you might want to consider the deodorized version. Myself, I love this and will definitely be re-ordering once I run out.
    Yummy smell

This Cocoa butter has a rich smell like chocolate, much deeper and cleaner than what you can find in the local stores. It's very dense, but melts well and easy to mix with other butters or oils while retaining that chocolate scent. A little goes a long way with this butter.
Camden-Grey is the best shop for butters!

Always an amazing price, especially for the quality and the assurance that this is food grade! Some people like the deodorized but I prefer a chocolatey smell and it seems much more organic to get it this way. I use it in soap, lotions, lip balms, and almost everything else!

Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
