    Country of Origin: U.S.

    Sold by weight. Our U.S.-manufactured lanolin (anhydrous*, USP a/k/a wool fat, wool wax) is ultra refined and exhibits excellent moisture binding and humectant properties, making it an ideal ingredient for creams, lotions, bar soaps and treatment products where enhanced moisture retention is desired. Lanolin has an ability to absorb up to 300% water. Emulsions which contain lanolin usually have a very good shelf life. This lanolin does not containg BHT or any other additives.

    Wool is carefully shorn from live sheep by sheepshearers who have many years of training and skill in this practice. The wool is sheared off the sheep, then it’s washed before the wool oil (a/k/a lanolin) is extracted from the wool.  Cows are milked, sheep are sheared to produce lanolin without any animal cruelty or death involved.

    From A Consumers Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients: Lanolin is a product of the oil glands of sheep. A water-absorbing base material and a natural emulsifier, it absorbs and holds water to the skin. Chemically a wax instead of a fat. (Anhydrous*: Does not contain water.) INCI: Lanolin. Shelf life: 1.5 to 2 years when properly stored in a cool place away from heat and direct light, tightly sealed. Soluble in oil, not in water.

    Adds moisturizing attributes to cosmetics, toiletries and OTC pharmaceuticals. Melting point 40-48 deg. C, 104-118.4 deg. F, SAP value 80-120. Characteristics: thick, pale yellow to brownish yellow, color could vary from batch to batch. When using in CP soap, you should keep temperatures around 110F.

    To make a salve with lanolin: 1 part beeswax, 4 parts lanolin, 1 part vegetable/nut oil. Melt over low heat in a double boiler, stir until blended. Once blended, add any additives you wish (i.e., herbal infused oil, vit. E, essential oils, etc.).

    Good, but does smell.
    (Bristol, TN, US) | January 15th, 2015
    I guess pure lanolin will smell like sheep's wool, and this is no exception. I'd rather have a more pure, natural product. My mother loves straight lanolin for her lips, and I must say I understand why even if I have a hard time getting over the "flavor." It has some staying power. Excellent quality, very viscous and translucent. Hoping to include in body butter without the smell being too strong, or lip balm. It won't take much, this is powerful stuff to combat winter dryness.

    This was my first time purchasing lanolin, I want to begin making my own body creams. When I recieved this I rubbed some into my hands and was surprised at how soft they made them. It does have a slight odor but it disapates with time. I can't wait to make my body cream with this. Will be back for more.

    Great Product For My Hair & Skin
    (Sandy Springs, GA, US) | October 22nd, 2011
    I love Lanolin especially for my hair (naturally curly hair) and skin (extremely dry skin). I ordered Lanolin before (at another site) and it smelled rancid but the Lanolin from Camden-Grey is excellent and I am very satisfied.
    The best lanolin I ever used
    (Tiffin, IA, US) | September 29th, 2011
    I used a lot of lanolins in my life time, this is the creamiest and best smelling (naturally, I mean)of all. It is anhydrous, so it should be a good emulsifier. Back in Russia (where I am from) we used to make emulsions only with dry lanolin as an emulsifier. To be frank, I made emulsion with emulsifying wax with an addition of lanolin and some bees wax this time. The cream came out wonderfully silky. And again about smell. Lanolin in US often smells like sheep wool, not to say almost like a sheep... But if it was purified too much it can smell like some synthetic substance. This is none of the above, which is really nice. Thank you, Camden-Grey!
    Great stuff

    Does just what it should. It has a slight odor to it, but using it in a hyper-emollient lip balm in small quantities, the scent wasn't noticeable.

    I use this lanolin to take down my two strand twists..this is the most economically affordable lanolin price I have found. It is pretty expensive in the stores. I love that it is pure and contains no mineral oil or other additives.
    Excellent price, great product!

    As a mother of 7, I've bought many a tube of Lansinoh (a pure lanolin for moms) while nursing my babies - your lanolin is much less expensive and I can tell no difference in quality. I contemplated buying a tube of the Lansinoh when I needed lanolin for a body butter I was making. It was almost $8 at Walmart for 2 ounces. I believe that's about what I paid for a whole pound of your lovely lanolin! Thanks!

    OUT OF STOCK ISSUES: If a customer orders a large quantity of a product and all of the product is not in stock when the order is entered into our system, once the new stock arrives we will ship separately whatever quantity we may owe the customer. Most of our restocking orders arrive at our warehouse 5-7 business days after we place a restocking order, sometimes sooner. Should the distiller or vendor inform us restocking will take longer than 7 business days, we’ll promptly notify the customer.

    Please note that we do not allow order cancellations for any reason and we don’t allow removal/cancellations of products which become partially or completely out of stock after the customer places an order.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    Our containers are filled with products to where our commercial digital scales indicate the container should be filled. Some containers will be filled to the top, some will not.

    HOW OILS ARE DISPENSED: All our products are dispensed by weight. EO's in 8 oz. through 2 lbs. - amber plastic pharmaceutical-grade bottle. EO's in 5 and 10 lbs. - heavy duty plastic container w/pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the container at least 2 months. EO's in sizes of 25+ lbs. - industry-standard metal or plastic can with a pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the metal can indefinitely and up to 2 months in the plastic pail. It's our decision in which type of pail we dispense the product, metal cans are not readily available. CARRIER OILS - plastic bottles/pails depending on the size ordered, do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so. FO's - in plastic containers, contents do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so.

    Essential oils in sizes from ½ oz. to 4 oz. are dispensed in amber glass bottles without orifice reducers or glass droppers. If we ever run out of amber glass bottles, we reserve the right to use any other glass bottle available at that time. The only sizes of EO's dispensed with orifice reducers are 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 oz. sizes. If you require bottles/vials with orifice reducers or Eurodroppers, we sell those separately.

    HOW TO STORE: Upon receipt, EO's dispensed in plastic bottles MUST be transferred into amber glass bottles. EO's, FO's and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Many oils could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle and store products.
