    Sold by weight. Meadowfoam oil (Limnanthes alba) was developed as an agricultural crop for its oil in the late 1950s. The common name "meadowfoam" is due to the appearance, at full bloom, of the plants solid canopy of creamy white flowers that resembles, in the wind, sea foam on the surf.

    Meadowfoam seeds (nutlets) contain 20 to 30 percent oil. The oil from meadowfoam seed has unique chemical properties that make it one of the most stable vegetable oils known. The oil extracted from meadowfoam seeds is recognized for its outstanding oxidative stability and contains over 98 percent long-chain fatty acids. Meadowfoam oil is highly resistant to oxidation and heat, and is a valuable material for personal-care products.

    The beneficial properties of the oil in these applications include moisturizing, ultraviolet protection (sunscreen applications), a non-greasy feel and excellent properties for blending with other cosmetic oils to enhance their function and reduce the cost of their use.

    Additionally, the oil is one of the most shelf-stable lipids known and remains liquid at room temperature despite its molecular weight. These characteristics make meadowfoam oil very stable, even when heated or exposed to the air. This outstanding stability can be conferred to other oils when meadowfoam oil is blended with them, making it ideal as a carrier in applications with less stable, but very high-value oils, for example, almond, borage and evening primrose oil. For this reason, meadowfoam oil is a potentially very high value shelf-life extender for the cosmetics industry. SAP value: 168. INCI:Limnanthes alba.

    One of my favorite carrier oils!

    Meadowfoam oil absorbs quickly, does not feel at all greasy and the moisture from one morning application lasts me nearly all day--and I am an obsessive hand washer, with eczema! Wow! My close second would be borage and then jojoba oil. I cannot wait to continue experimenting with this oil, as I think it will be great in delicate facial lotions.
    Pricey, but still cheaper than other sites

    I love to use meadowfoam oil in my facial creams and facial soaps. It is one of the most expensive oils that I use, but it has such great properties and benefits. Camden Grey's price is great on this oil, and it is really great quality. It has no scent, which is preferable for me.

    It is a waxy oil, similar to Jojoba. Its rich texture makes it the perfect choice for salves, balms, and ointments, where it offers substantivity, along with barrier formation, to lock in skin's natural moisture to help prevent dryness and soften the skin. This oil is perfect for Mature Skin Products, Skin Care Creams, Lotions, Scrubs, Bath and Body Care Creams, Lotions, Scrubs, Aromatherapy Products, Lip Products, and Hair/Scalp Conditioners.
    A MUST have for everyone

    I really like the Meadowfoam oil because of its stability and the fact that if I use it in a mix with other less stable oils (I love to mix oils to utilize their complementary properties) it will impart some of that stability to them also, giving me a finished product that I won't have to use up more quickly than I care to. It has a very light, pleasant odor almost not there at all. I think that it sinks into the skin even more rapidly than Jojoba, which is very fast (yet leaves it feeling clean and soft), and this makes it a wonderful facial oil to use as a moisturizer before applying makeup. Add to all that the ultraviolet protection and it's an oil that certainly should not be overlooked as an additive in any of your natural products. It is not exactly “cheap” but not very expensive either and considering that it has a virtually limitless shelf-life (within reason) this makes it a prime deal and a really excellent oil to have on hand to use neat or as an additive. Will be ordering it again when I run out---and then again after that!!
    Best quality and price

    I used this oil for making lotion and cream. It came out great and sometimes I just put it on my face for Sunscreen benefit. I have to say Camden-Grey carries the best quality oil. I will continue ordering from you.
    Better than I expected

    I bought Meadowfoam seed oil on a whim, not exactly sure if I was going to like it or not. It exceeded my expectations. I have mature skin, so I was looking for something to smooth out and protect my skin. This does that and more. I use it right out of the bottle. I find it not greasy, absorbs quickly, easy to work with. I really like the stability and sunscreen properties. The price is excellent for what you're getting.
    Great for oil cleansers

    I mixed this oil in with my usual Castor oil base for cleansing and my skin is so radiant. It's also great as on all over body moisturizer too.
    Luxurious feel, great price!

    This is my first time trying this oil & I absolutely love it. In the bottle it is a clear pale yellow oil. The consistency is thicker than I've come to expect for a carrier oil, but it not what I would call thick or viscous. The skinfeel is different from any other carrier oil I've used (I've read this is due to the molecular structure of its fatty acids). It is a profoundly LUSH emollient that spreads & is absorbed with ease, leaving a rich swath of velvety textured skin. If you haven't tried meadowfoam seed oil yet, you really need to. I can only guess how inspiring this oil would be to a formulator. Camden-Grey's price is the best I've seen.
    So Glad Camden-Grey Carries This Oil!

    I'm a huge fan of Meadowfoam Seed Oil for lip balms, hair & nail products and facial serums. It's a luxurious oil that absorbs quickly and has so many benefits. I use it alone as a nail & cuticle oil and my hands have never looked better!

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
