    Rhassoul or Ghassoul is a mineral rich, yellowish/beige clay powder that blends extremely well with water and is considered a swelling clay because of its great capacity to absorb liquids quickly. This volcanic clay contains a high percentage of magnesium plus silica, potassium, calcium, iron, copper, zinc and lithium.

    For greasy hair or hair which lacks volume and thickness, you can make a simple hair mask by adding warm water to Rhassoul and applying it throughout your hair, rinse after 15 or 20 minutes until the water runs clear. This mask will also give the hair shine.

    For soapmaking, use a maximum of 2%. Increase the amount of liquids when used in cold process soaps. For other uses, recommendations are usually half a teaspoon clay to 1.5 teaspoon liquid.

    INCI: Moroccan lava clay.

    PACKAGING:  Purchasing 10 lbs., 25 lbs. or larger quantities of a powder product (clay, pumice or any product listed in our Salts, Sugars & Powders category) doesn’t mean you’ll receive one package containing all of the pounds purchased.  We will prepare individual plastic bags whose weights will add up to the total number of purchased pounds.  For example, do not expect 25 lbs. of a powder product to be packed in one 25 lb. bag.  There could be the rare occasion where we could receive from the manufacturer a 50 lb. factory-sealed bag and we’ll turn around and ship the same bag to a customer who ordered 50 lbs. of a powder product.

    I added a small amount into a cold process recipe at 20% superfat and it removes oil like no other additives!! Going forward I'm planning on combining it with some pumice to make a gardener/mechanic's soap since it tackles grease quite well. Will also think about this in a shampoo, although i think that would require some antibiotic and thickener/stabilizer to hold it in solution.

    Great quality clay, thanks Camden Grey. Rhassoul clay, mixed with Ayurvedic herbs, oil and herbal tea, makes a fantastic, smooth hair mask that leaves my hair and scalp clean, conditioned, and so soft. My tight spiral curls are resilient and well defined. The clay is a fine powder without lumps that also makes an excellent face (and body) mask for deep cleaning and detoxing.
    Great quality Rhassoul clay.

    I am an African American woman with natural hair. When it comes to my hair I opt to cleanse with clays or Ayurvedic cleansing powders. One of my favorite clays to use is Rhassoul. This rhassoul from Camden Grey blends easier than others I've tried, with makes for easier rinsing, as well as a smoother blend where I don't have to worry about clay clumping at the bottom. Instead, I get a nice, smooth, easy to apply "shampoo" replacement.
    Rhassoul for Acne Skin

    I've struggled with adult acne for several years now and through all my research in finding natural options for my treatment I've found rhassoul clay to be one of my favorite weapons in combatting acne prone skin. This clay is excellent for masks, scrubs, and even with tea tree oil as spot treatment. The quality of camden-grey's rhassoul clay is superb. It is very well sifted and does not have any surprise hard pieces or grains that I have found in some other brands. My favorite use is combining rhassoul, diatomaceous earth, bentonite clay, tea tree oil, and water together as a paste and then using as a face mask. I highly recommend trying this stuff if you have oily/acne prone/problem skin.

    After creating a hair mask with this clay by just adding water my hair felt soft, fluffy, and just was unrecognizable to me. I looked into this clay because I heard of its benefits for hair and recently started to hear great reviews from those who use it on their skin. I only purchased a small amount but will be ordering more along with some bentonite clay in hopes that I can create a mix that can replace shampoo.

    I have heard, and read various good things about the multitude of clays that are out there for health and beauty use. But, as far as I'm concerned, for cosmetic use on one's face and hair rhassoul is the clay to have!!! I originally bought the rhassoul because it was so highly recommended at sites for women who are embracing their natural curls and swearing off the chemical and other YUCK that is in the hair products we buy. I just tried a hair masque last night and believe it or not mud (clay) really does clean your scalp and hair---as hard to believe as that may be. While it was on my hair I became rather worried because it felt dry and tangled but upon rinsing out I had soft clean hair that curled without me having to do all the normal curl procedures I regularly go through. Strangely enough, I have heard it is great for oily hair too although my hair is quite dry----can't beat that! I only bought a pound with this first purchase because I wanted to see how it worked on MY hair before I invested in a larger amount but, with my next order I'll be buying in bulk--I have 24 inch long hair and it took a bit more than most people use to coat my whole head. Since I was doing my hair I thought I may as well go for the gusto and do a masque on my face too and another WOW!!! Soft, clean, smooth skin. This is my new cosmetic love!
    Excellent!

    A favorite of mines! This is a gentle clay to me. It really does wash and conditions your hair! I used it in on my face for a wash. Been slacking though. Will pick back up on it cause this clay had my face clear and feeling clean and smooth. Also notice a difference how it looked texture wise. Used in my scrubs as well. Camden brings the best price! Will always get Rhassoul clay!
    So in love with this clay

    I ordered this product a while ago, but I ended up shelving it. I had been searching for a great, gentle conditioner for my daughter's very "thirsty" hair. Well, I recentlty saw a review on Rhassoul clay and remembered I already have it on hand. I tried it as a deep conditioner and immediately began to wonder what took me so long to use it. It worked a miracle. Her hair is more moist; the curls are more defined; and the overall health is just better in general. I've only used it twice, and I imagine it will only get better with time.

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
