THERE’S A LIMIT OF 2 PER ORDER!!  St. John’s wort herbal infused oil (Hypericum perforatum L.) (SJW) with its wonderful red color is prepared for us by a well-known herbalist who harvests her ethically-crafted and organic herbs. This is not a mass produced oil. Our SJW oil is lovingly prepared in small batches and based on the quantity of fresh flowers available using extra virgin olive oil employing the techniques this herbalist has employed for many years.

This is not an oil prepared from dry plant material.  This is not an oil from China or France, it’s a U.S. oil produced by a longtime small herbal business.

SJW oil is not available year round, once it is gone, it is gone until next season. This oil will keep for at least two years when stored tightly sealed, away from direct light and heat. SJW may be used as is or with the addition of various essential oils. It’s rarely used for making soap because of its cost and scarcity.

Ingredients: St. John’s wort (fresh flowering tops) and organic extra virgin olive oil.

    Meaning of wort: plant.

Uses: Anti-inflammatory, for burns/reddened skin/bruises/neuralgia/sciatica/inflamed nerves, for sunburn with the addition of German Chamomile EO. A massage blend made with SJW and Birch or Wintergreen EO works wonders for gout and a massage blend with Foraha and Helichrysum also works wonders for arthritis and rheumatism.  SJW is very useful after heart, chest or breast surgery, read Susun Weed’s text further below.  Provides great relief for shingles.

Please note that the infused oil does not offer anti-depressant benefits and should not be taken internally. Skin to which SJW oil has been applied should not be exposed to the sun until several hours have passed.

Renowned herbalist and teacher, SUSUN WEED, has been kind enough to allow us to include the information provided below obtained from her writings and website.

A healing salve can be made by mixing 1 part melted beeswax to 3 parts infused oil. Infused oils should be stored in a cool dry place or in the refrigerator and used within 1-2 years. If stored in the fridge, the oil will solidify. Bring to room temperature before using.

The vermillion red oil of the flowers or flowering tops of St. Joan’s (St. John’s) Wort is mild enough to be used regularly to promote breast health, yet powerful enough to seem positively miraculous as it repairs damage to the skin and nerves of the breasts. I consider it an indispensable ally for all women. In addition to using it for breast massage, I favor it for assistance in healing the armpit and breast area after surgery, reducing skin damage from radiation, and relieving nerve and muscle pain. Its antiviral powers pass through the skin and into nerve endings, preventing and checking a wide variety of skin problems, including virulent hospital-bred infections such as shingles.

I find St. John’s Wort oil an exceptionally useful ally for women dealing with nerve damage caused by removal of axillary lymph nodes. Frequent applications restore sensation, promote good lymphatic circulation, help prevent lymphedema, and offer prompt and long-lasting relief from pain.

Women who apply St. Joan’s Wort oil before and after radiation treatments report that their skin stays healthy and flexible even after dozens of treatments. In addition to preventing radiation burns, this oil prevents sunburn, too. It s the only sunscreen I use to protect my skin, which gets plenty of sun. And it s a superior healer of sunburn, as well.

St. Joan’s Wort oil is an invaluable ally for those with sciatica pain, leg and foot cramps, back pain, neck aches, arthritis pain, bursitis, or any other ache. I use it externally (along with 25 drops of the tincture internally) as often as every 10 to15 minutes when dealing with the acute phase of a cramped muscle. For long-term pain, I use oil and tincture as frequently as needed, sometimes as often as ten times a day.

St. John’s Wort oil is also the best remedy I've found to relieve the pain and promote rapid healing of nerves and skin troubled by shingles, cold sores, mouth and anal fissures, genital herpes and chicken pox. Hourly applications of oil, plus 25 drops of tincture taken internally at the same time, are not excessive in the initial, acute stages of these problems. As symptoms abate, I use fewer applications. In chronic conditions, I use the oil and tincture four times a day. Used as a scalp oil during chemotherapy, St. John’s Wort encourages rapid regrowth of healthy hair.

A healing salve can be made by mixing 1 part melted beeswax to 3 parts infused oil. Infused oils should be stored in a cool dry place or in the refrigerator and used within one year. If stored in the fridge, the oil will solidify. Bring to room temperature before using.

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
