FYI: The main photo of a light-colored shea butter in a glass bowl is a stock photo purchased online.  The second photo of a white/creamy white shea butter was taken from an actual sample from the manufacturer of our refined shea butter.

Our refined shea butter from Ghana is cold expeller pressed and carbon treated to remove the impurities. It is not solvent extracted, but mechanically extracted, there are no impurities left whatsoever, this butter may have a mild, non-existent odor.  Shea is extremely moisturizing and gentle to the skin. In soaps, it gives a very luxurious feel to the finished product. It can also be added to creams and lotions or used alone for massage, skin cream, applied directly on small skin burns or applied to hair.

Because this shea butter is deodorized and the color is removed, there should not be any or much interference with any fragrance or essential oil or color of the finished product at your end.

Shea butter is not hard and crumbly like cocoa butter, its color ranges from white to ivory/white; it is creamy at normal temperature.

Shea butter is remarkably high in unsaponifiables, up to 11%, making it a superfatting material for soapmaking. To use in soapmaking (2-5% of your total fats and oils) melt the shea butter at very low temperature with the other solid fats. To superfat with shea butter add 1-2/3 tablespoons per 5 pounds of soap, melted and cooled to approximately 75F (24C) just before adding the scent.

SAP value: 180.0. INCI: Butyrospermum parkii.  Melting point: 89-113 deg. F.

I've tried a lot of different suppliers for shea butter and for a while was using one of the popular sites out there to get it from, because they had the best texture - very soft, creamy, which is very important for me, as I use shea in my best seller - body butter. When I found Camden-Grey I was ordering many other products here (and loved the prices) but was reluctant to get shea, as so many times new places I tried had "bad" texture and I was ending up with more and more unusable shea. I finally did get a small amount from Camden and it's awesome! Just what I need and the price is better! wow!
    Smooth, excellent quality, great price

I have used this shea butter in lip balm, solid lotion bars, and CP soap. It has a nice smooth texture and does not get grainy when it sets up. The price is excellent. I will be ordering this product again.
    Luxurious Bliss!

OK nothing says pampering like this wonderful butter - it is awesome, creamy, very moisturizing. I had tried both unrefined and ultrarefined, and Ultrarefined is my choice! No smell, better texture, lovely and a Must Have!
    So nice!

I have used your shea oil in my soapmaking (superfatting) for some time, and love the convenience of pouring rather than chipping:-)! But I needed shea butter for a body butter I'm now making and yours is great! No grainy texture, lovely creamy white in color and no scent that I noticed. And, as always, a great price!

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
