All xanthan gum grades from this manufacturer are manufactured without GMO and only traceable non-GMO raw materials are used. Therefore, there are no GMO labeling requirements for this xanthan gum according to regulations (EC) No 1829/2003 and 1830/2003.
Even though the manufacturer indicates this gum is food grade and free of gluten, please note that Camden-Grey sells its products for external applications, not for ingestion or as food additives.
ADVICE FOR STORING XANTHAN GUM SOLUTIONS: Although Xanthan Gum is more resistant to microbial degradation than most other water-soluble polymers, the use of a preservative is necessary if xanthan gum shall be stored longer than 24 hours in the form of solution. Xanthan gum solutions are compatible with most commonly used preservatives. We recommend to store our xanthan gum in tight containers in a cool and dry place. Recommended temperature: max. 30C; recommended humidity: max. 70%.
SHELF LIFE: Minimum 2 years if stored as mentioned above.
SUITABILITY: Suitable for vegans, vegetarians, lacto-vegetarians and ovo-lacto-vegetarians (for external applications). Camden-Grey does not sell its products for ingestion.
COSMETIC APPLICATIONS: shampoos, conditioners, lotions, creams, body washes, shower gels.
INCI: Xanthan Gum.
The person who monitors our Forum (Ela McAdams) has provided these tips on how to use this product.
You really only need a tiny amount. Let's say you want to use 0.5% in a lotion. If you make 1 lb. of lotion, you are going to measure 0.08 lbs. of xanthan gum out on your scale to add to the recipe. Hopefully, you'll make something more like 5 lbs. of lotion, because it's way easier to measure .4 lbs of xanthan than it is to measure .08 lbs..
I mix the gum into the water before mixing in anything else and using a stick blender. I know some people who disperse it into their oil and then mix the oil into the water phase of their lotion; this also works.
The important part is to keep beating the mixture as you are working, though, or the gum can literally gum up on you and NOT dissolve back out if you don't keep it moving.
PACKAGING: Purchasing 10 lbs., 25 lbs. or larger quantities of a powder product (clay, pumice or any product listed in our Salts, Sugars & Powders category) doesn’t mean you’ll receive one package containing all of the pounds purchased. We will prepare individual plastic bags whose weights will add up to the total number of purchased pounds. For example, do not expect 25 lbs. of a powder product to be packed in one 25 lb. bag. There could be the rare occasion where we could receive from the manufacturer a 50 lb. factory-sealed bag and we’ll turn around and ship the same bag to a customer who ordered 50 lbs. of a powder product.
OUT OF STOCK ISSUES: If a customer orders a large quantity of a product and all of the product is not in stock when the order is entered into our system, once the new stock arrives we will ship separately whatever quantity we may owe the customer. Most of our restocking orders arrive at our warehouse 5-7 business days after we place a restocking order, sometimes sooner. Should the distiller or vendor inform us restocking will take longer than 7 business days, we’ll promptly notify the customer.
Please note that we do not allow order cancellations for any reason and we don’t allow removal/cancellations of products which become partially or completely out of stock after the customer places an order.
Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.
EO = essential oil
FO = fragrance oil
Our containers are filled with products to where our commercial digital scales indicate the container should be filled. Some containers will be filled to the top, some will not.
HOW OILS ARE DISPENSED: All our products are dispensed by weight. EO's in 8 oz. through 2 lbs. - amber plastic pharmaceutical-grade bottle. EO's in 5 and 10 lbs. - heavy duty plastic container w/pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the container at least 2 months. EO's in sizes of 25+ lbs. - industry-standard metal or plastic can with a pouring spout, the oil may remain inside the metal can indefinitely and up to 2 months in the plastic pail. It's our decision in which type of pail we dispense the product, metal cans are not readily available. CARRIER OILS - plastic bottles/pails depending on the size ordered, do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so. FO's - in plastic containers, contents do not need to be transferred to glass unless you wish to do so.
Essential oils in sizes from ½ oz. to 4 oz. are dispensed in amber glass bottles without orifice reducers or glass droppers. If we ever run out of amber glass bottles, we reserve the right to use any other glass bottle available at that time. The only sizes of EO's dispensed with orifice reducers are 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 oz. sizes. If you require bottles/vials with orifice reducers or Eurodroppers, we sell those separately.
HOW TO STORE: Upon receipt, EO's dispensed in plastic bottles MUST be transferred into amber glass bottles. EO's, FO's and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Many oils could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle and store products.
