I love shea butters, but for salable lotions I'd pick the refined from now on.

I love everything about shea butter!! And in a lot of cases unrefined is desired over refined products. However, the coloring can really affect the appearance of your finished product. If you're just using this for personal use you shouldn't have any trouble. But i do hand lotions with essential oils and shimmering mica colors for retail and when using the unrefined the natural yellow color really gives things an un-appealing look or color tone. I will definitely choose the refined white from now on. :)

This is an early review as I've only just made a batch using this fragrance. It accelerates very quickly! Will update on the scent and colour later.

I ordered this product because I like the smell of cinnamon rolls but then again I like the smell of all sweet desserts. When I got it I didn't smell what I though I was going to smell. It is very spicy. You smell nutmeg and vanilla but the smell of cinnamon over powers it. It will smell better depending on how much you use. But overall a strong, bold, spicy scent
Very strong scent

(THIS REVIEW PERTAINS TO 'UNREFINED' WHEAT GERM OIL)I wasn't expecting this oil to smell so intensely, but it does. It smells like grain and carrot seed oil. I would not recommend it for blends where fragrance matters as it easily overpowers anything (even at low concentrations). Dark color.

The fragrance is sweeter than true sandalwood, but the blend is not too cloyingly sweet as other companies I have tried. Don't order it if you are expected something earthy and woodsy like true sandalwood oil because you will be dissapointed; this mild and refreshing blend has more in common with the sweeter resins of copal and myrrh. I like it though, and would consider ordering again.
It's pretty herby compared to bulgaria or french

I used this is cold process soap and it held very strong in the soap for about 2 months. After that it faded some. It's a decent lavender scent, but there is no way it is as "sweet" as bulgaria or French (I've never used the French in soap--it's too dear and is absolutely LOVELY in lotions). For my personal soap, I really, really prefer bulgaria or at least some bulgaria mixed in with this EO. This has too much of a medicinal/grassy smell for some uses (I would not use it in lotion or shampoo). It's cost effective for soap, but in some ways it lacks the depth and beauty of the Bulgaria or Frendh lavenders.
There are better lavender oils

The underlying scent of camphor still comes through in Lavandula officinalis. While it is a reasonably priced oil for inclusion in soaps, lotions, etc., I was surprised at its rather "medicinal" scent. While more expensive, the Lavandula angustifolia has a more subtle, pleasing aroma.

Reply from Camden-Grey: Since 1998 we have been offering Lavender 40/42 from the same distiller, it's our #1 selling Lavender essential oil. Its staying power and wonderful aroma in finished products are two of the reasons customers keep reordering this EO.

for the longest time i did not use my ginger becasue in my opinion it did not smell as i thought ginger should smell. i mixed it one day with geranium, ylang ylang, and some spice oils (cinnamon, black pepper, etc. suddenly i could smell the ginger spiciness. i've decided to give it another chance. the love affair begins again.

This is a good eo mixed with something else, but on it's own, it smells much like dried mushrooms (sort of like dried portebello--a strong, old wood smell, a bit musty). I ordered a plumeria sample, which I found too sweet/strong. A drop of ginger in it mellowed it and gave it more bottom notes, improving both smells greatly. Mind you, nothing I've mixed it with has made it smell like fresh cut ginger, but a drop or two mixed with mandarin red gave the mandarin red a sweeter smell in a liquid hand soap that I made (not cold process, a SLS soap). All in all, I prefer clary sage for mixing with citrus. The clary tends to enhance the citrus and make it "stick" while the ginger gives it a bit of spice smell. This is high quality and strong. I will generally be mixing it into other things for cold process soap, but haven't tried it there yet. I also make shampoo and hand soaps and scents hold very well in small doses in those products.

HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
