    Botanical Name: Boswellia carteri

    Plant Part: Resin

    Country of Origin: Somalia/France

    Method of Extraction: Steam distillation

    Plant material originates in Somalia, oil is distilled in France. Warm, woody, spicy, incense-like aroma. Frankincense has been used since ancient times in religious ceremonies and is still used in many churches today.

    Some of its properties are antiseptic, astringent, cicatrisant, diuretic, digestive, uterine and sedative. Slows down breathing and produces feelings of calm. Ideally used for meditation. Like most other oils extracted from resins, frankincense is effective for respiratory catarrhal discharge and respiratory congestion. Used in inhalations, it may be helpful for asthma sufferers as it eases shortness of breath. Its astringent properties may relieve uterine hemorrhages, as well as heavy periods and generally acts as a tonic to the uterus. Its cytophylactic properties make it an ideal oil for mature, wrinkled skin in need of a lift.

    Blends well with basil, geranium, lavender, orange, neroli, patchouli and sandalwood. Flash point: 80 deg. F. (Cannot ship via air or ocean w/o appropriate documentation, cannot ship via postal air services.)

    Fantastic topical analgesic!

    I've been making CP & HP soaps for a number of years now and have tried EOs from others, but have found Camden-Grey's EOs to be the highest quality with wonderful scents at very reasonable prices! I love using CG EOs for all of my soaps, lotions, and perfumes! While I haven't used my CG Frankincense EO in my soaps yet, it's my go to EO to use as a topical analgesic! A couple of years ago I torn my rotator cuff and was in a sling when my husband and I attended an essential oil class. Frankincense EO was passed around for us to rub on any area that was in pain. My husband suggested I rub it on the area of my rotator cuff. I politely used a couple of drops while thinking, "Yeah, right! Like that's going to do me any good!" The instructor kept passing other EOs around, and I avoided them in order to pay attention and try to take lecture notes. About 10-15 minutes later my husband asked how my shoulder felt. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the pain in my rotator cuff was gone! As soon as we got home, I ordered CG Frankincense EO and used it daily for a year to relieve the pain until God healed my shoulder. I have used it ever since for any joint or muscle pain. It works great and smells good, too! Thank you Camden-Grey for carrying such high quality products!
    Just way cool!

    Frankincense essential oil has a neat history, which makes it fun besides that it smells great. My children love to use it to scent our homemade items.

    Such an unusual smell, but I love it. I have been enjoying putting it in my husbands skin care products, and I love the way he smells. A little goes a long way.
    Great quality oil.

    This is a nice scent that blends very easily with others. This oil actually helped to clear up the small patches of eczema on my left arm. Thank you Camden-Grey!

    Beautiful oil!!! 1 of my favorites! Still experimenting the different uses for this oil. Definitely good though for my skin and hair! Lotions, scrubs, hair lotions and conditioners. Get a lovely, calming feel from it as well. Love woodsy oils! Look forward to using this with other things. Thank you Camden Grey!

    Frankincense is one of the plant kingdom's most unique essences. There is nothing else like it. Although the aroma is akin to cedar or pine, it possesses a solitary richness that inspires thoughts of desert tents, sonorous chanting and sacred ancient rituals. I have found no other as gorgeous (and affordable!) as Camden-Grey's.

    This is such a fresh frankincense! It just sparkles! Bright and lively with beautiful soaring citrus (lime!) high notes above the woody base resinous with conifer (cedarwood!) tones... slightly astringent but with a rich fruitiness as well... and hints of verbena and vetiver. I've read about fresh frankincense but this is my first encounter with one so fine and it is a surprise and a delight. It has an amazing clarity. Longevity is outstanding, I can't wait to blend with it. Wow.

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
