    Botanical Name: Lavandula officinalis

    Plant Part: Flower

    Country of Origin: France

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

    Lavender's aroma is floral, herbaceous, light with woody undertones. Its unique aroma has a calming effect on the user. Soothes the spirit, relieves anger, could be valuable in manic-depressive cases.

    The numbers in Lavender 40/42 indicate the linalyl acetate content; in this case, they indicate the product contains 40%-42% of linalyl acetate, a naturally occurring phytochemical found in many flowers and spice plants. Lavender 40/42 is generally a blend of various lavenders in order to get a consistent scent from batch to batch, with processors adding natural linalyl acetate to cover the smell of camphor or borneol components of a given lavender.

    Most soapers and toiletry makers prefer Lavender 40/42 because it smells the way they believe lavender should smell and it's fairly inexpensive......about half the price of other, more expensive lavenders which are usually reserved for aromatherapy purposes. This is our best selling essential oil for toiletries.

    Keeps insects away. Blends well with bergamot, chamomile, citronella, lemon, and pine. Flash point: 156F.

    Consistency, Quality and Familiarity: It's not only what my customers expect but exactly what I need to make my reliable products. Extreme Lavender is what the label says and it's exactly what I get from 40/42 and CamdenGrey. Exceptional!
    Nice multi-purpose lavender

    I bought the 5 pounds and am so thankful I did. This is one of the best prices I've seen for lavender essential oil. I use it in all my products from soap to room sprays. The bulk bottle is hard to pour without dripping, but that's the only complaint.
    A bit medicinal scent

    I use this essential oil due to its more medicinal smell rather than the more floral types. Number 1 is because it is always a consistent scent, I never have to worry that the scent has changed. Number 2, I make products for men with this essential oil. Most men don't care for the floral scent but when they smell yours they love it. Camden Grey has the best price on this essential oil. I have done hours of research and their shipping is reasonable as well.

    This 40/42 Lavender is what I use for all my soaps. Is there anything lavender doesn't pair well with? I have used this reasonably priced lavender with grapefruit, lime, lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree... you name it. It is very potent so you can reduce how much you would use in soapmaking. For 100 oz oils I use about 2.5 oz. This is a favorite essential oil!
    Great all-purpose Lavender

    This lavender blend is perfect for all of my skin care products. It has a great scent that holds really well (even when I've accidentally added it to hot soap above it's flash point - oops!) and blends great with any combination of oils. It's been amazing as a burn relief oil in our house too. We always reach for it and use it neat whenever someone gets a burn and it every time it stops the burn from scabbing or welting at all.
    My "essential" essential oil

    I use this essential oil in my own DIY hair/body/face oil mix. Not only does it give the oil a nice feminine scent but it also provides nice aromatherapy for days that may be more stressed than others. The amount I receive for the price I pay is also great!

    This is my customers favorite scent, I use this scent as my main scent for my blend of butters. My customers have mentioned the lavender helps calm their eczema. Great quality oil.
    Great multi-tasker

    This lavender has a lovely, slightly herbaceous scent. Not as sweet as french lavender. A perfect, all-purpose lavender! I use it for soap, lotion, scented sprays, salves... even directly on a wound, since lavender is the only essential oil that's safe to apply neat (undiluted.) It's great for healing, mood lifting and promoting sleep.

    I found this oil to be extremely therapeutic and cost effective. I have problems with sleep and relaxing, and just small amounts of this oil diluted and spritzed onto pillows or what-not does the trick for me!
    Good for fragrance, not for therapeutic use

    This lavender oil is very sweet and camphorous which makes it perfect for soap and any other product requiring a relaxing fragrance. Good quality.

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
