The essential oil resides in the pericarp, not in the seed. Spicy, warm, licorice-like aroma like anise seed, but slightly stronger. Fishermen use it to mask human scent while fishing. Well known for its effect on the digestive system. May have a good effect on asthma and breathing difficulties. Anise has estrogenlike properties, is an emmenagogue, aids childbirth, increases milk secretion, and is antispasmodic for nerves and muscles. Anise is indicated for lack of menstruation, menopause, colitis, and poor breathing due to nerves. Blends well with fennel, petitgrain and rosewood. Flash point: 182°F.

Perfect licorice aroma and a great value as a very little bit goes a long way in soap and bath products!

I wanted that familiar anise or "licorice-like" aroma and this is it! For any anise or licorice lover, this essential oil is great in soaps, candles, or use in diffusers and might even be of use to an adventurous perfumer. A truly great smelling oil!

This is a very (VERY!) strong essential oil, a few drops go a long way, so don't overdo it! My clients love it: if you really like anise, you will totally fall in love with it, so sweet and strong - just like greek Ouzo! Combines very well with other eo like fennel or even cinnamon and gives fruity frangrances a touch of WOW, if you know what I mean.... Oh, yes, and it behaves just perfect in CP , too!
