20 Easy Uses for Essential Oils

1.Anise oil has been prized by fishermen for decades.. Anise covers up the human scent that scares thefish away and fishermen rub a few drops into their hands before baiting their lines.

2.To keep your picnic pest free, use lemongrass or citronella essential oils.Just a few drops in the melted wax of a candle will keep pests away for hours.

3.Rosemary promotes alertness and helps to stimulate the memory.A few drops of rosemary essential oil on a cotton ball will do a great job of keeping you alert on long car rides and help your information retention while studying for a test.

  1. Selling your home? Try simmering a pot of spices in water on your stove to fill the house with a warm and cheerful scent.Good herbs to use for this include spices such as clove, cinnamon and vanilla.Add a few drops of essential oils such asclove and sweet orange to enhance the effect.

5.Add essential oils to paper-mache paste.Your resulting art project will not only look good but smell great!

16.On a related note, rubbing rosemary or lavender essential oils in a bit of carrier oil on the back of your neck does a great job of easing headache pain.

17.Freshen your carpets by adding 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to a box of cornstarch or baking soda.Mix/shake thoroughly and let the mixture sit for a few days to absorb.Then sprinkle it all over the carpets in your home, let sit for an hour or two, and vacuum up.If you use an insect repelling essential oil such as lavender, it will also help to keep pests out of your carpeting and home!

18.Deodorize your shoes by dropping a few drops of sage or geranium essential oil on an herbal sachet or tissue into your shoe.Lemon essential oil also works well to dispel funky foot odors.

19.Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on your vacuum cleaner bag to fill the whole house with fragrance as you clean, or put a cotton ball with a few drops of essential oil in the dust bin of your bagless vacuum.

20. Keep mice at bay by putting cotton balls dipped in peppermint essential oil in the corners of your kitchen cabinets.
