    Botanical Name: Lavandula officinalis

    Plant Part: Flower

    Country of Origin: France

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

    Lavender's aroma is floral, herbaceous, light with woody undertones. Its unique aroma has a calming effect on the user. Soothes the spirit, relieves anger, could be valuable in manic-depressive cases.

    The numbers in Lavender 40/42 indicate the linalyl acetate content; in this case, they indicate the product contains 40%-42% of linalyl acetate, a naturally occurring phytochemical found in many flowers and spice plants. Lavender 40/42 is generally a blend of various lavenders in order to get a consistent scent from batch to batch, with processors adding natural linalyl acetate to cover the smell of camphor or borneol components of a given lavender.

    Most soapers and toiletry makers prefer Lavender 40/42 because it smells the way they believe lavender should smell and it's fairly inexpensive......about half the price of other, more expensive lavenders which are usually reserved for aromatherapy purposes. This is our best selling essential oil for toiletries.

    Keeps insects away. Blends well with bergamot, chamomile, citronella, lemon, and pine. Flash point: 156F.

    Thank you so much for offering this item. I have used it in both cold process and hot process soap making and it has real staying power which is what I need for soaps. I don't know what the flashpoint is but I added it to 180 degree hot process batch of soap and did not have any problems. Thanks again! I found my lavender!

    I used this up so quickly! I have tried a few different varieties of lavenders, Croatian and French. This is a sweeter, lighter, less herbal lavender that can be used in cosmetics and soap. Great price.

    This is my favorite lavender so far. I've smelled about 8 varieties, and used 2 prior to this, and this is my favorite. As per usual with Camden Grey, the quality is high, and the price is better than most places.

    This is the best Lavender 40/42 I have come across. Not too overpowering and most importantly it holds extremely well in CP soap

    I'm not a big fan of lavender, but this essential oil is very nice. I mixed it with citrus (lime and manderin orange) in melt and pour. The lavender give the citrus some staying power and enhances the scent. Great product.
    Many uses

    I used way to much in my first batch of salt scrub so I added it to shampoo I use for my dogs and it really got rid of the fleas and ticks. I will use it more frequently.
    Excellent and highly versatile

    This is one of the best 40/42s I've found. As other reviewers have noted, its immediate scent is more medicinal than the French or maillette varieties (dentate or angustifolis). I tend to use this one more for cleaning and home-healing purposes and less for direct body applications such as massages or baths. However, it is a great travel kit addition, especially when in the outdoors, as it can help with everything from cuts to whelps from poisonous plants to blisters on the feet (it also keeps the tent and backpack smelling nice, especially when the dirty clothes start adding up). This is cost-effective and highly useful, and C-G's price is hard to beat.

    I've used lavender on my pets for years for everything from ringworm to tears in the skin. It's my number 1 first aide product for treating just about everything with them. Sometimes I will combine it with tea tree, Myrrh and grapefruit seed extract as well. Works super well with the dreaded "Florida sores". My horse had a bad one on her face that just wouldn't heal because of flys and gnats. I added a couple of drops to the sore and within one day the swelling was gone, within 3 days the sore had healed about 50% and I'd tried everything before becoming hooked on lavender. I've been hooked ever since!
    Still Great After 2 Years!

    I use this lavender oil in my goat milk soaps, and it is an absolute favorite both plain, and blended with lemon. Thank you so much for a great product!

    Thanks for browsing thru this section which contains answers to many questions that are often asked of us. Here we explain where to locate CofA and SDS for a product, how we dispense and package our products, how products should be stored, basic terminology and the wait time for bulk products to ship from our warehouse. FYI: We're closed on Fridays.

    Certificate of Analysis (CofA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We publish on our website those documents for most of our products, some products don't provide either because the product doesn't require it. In this same section where you're at now, look to the tab to the left titled Documents, click on it and that's where you'll find either document for the product you seek. If you do not find the document you require, please email us at customerservice@camdengrey.com so we can research further.

    BULK ITEMS: When a customer adds a bulk item to the cart, the customer’s immediately shown on the screen how many number of days should be allowed for the bulk product to arrive at our warehouse. If the bulk item happens to be in stock, we’ll ship sooner than the customer would expect. As we emerge from Covid, logistics operations are not yet back to normal, what used to arrive at our warehouse in 3 days now takes much longer. Should a vendor inform us the ordered product will take longer than what’s mentioned on our website we’ll email the customer with the latest information.

    TERMINOLOGY:

    EO = essential oil

    FO = fragrance oil

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

    Essential oils: in 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz...amber glass vials with orifice reducers. ½ oz. to 2 oz...in amber glass bottles with white caps and Eurodroppers...3 to 4 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps and without orifice reducers...7 oz. in aluminum bottles...15 oz. in amber glass bottles with black caps...10 & 25 lbs. in HDPE plastic containers with wide mouths although, occasionally, 25 lbs. may be dispensed in factory-issued metal containers with pouring spouts.

    28 lbs. of carrier oils and other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic gallon containers with handles, each holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

    30+ lbs. of carrier oils, other liquids, soft butters, Castile gel and other products are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles & pouring spouts in the lid; those products may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. After Covid, we reserve the right to use any packaging/dispensing container available to us and not mentioned above because it continues to be difficult many times to restock the same packaging container or material used in the past.

    NOTE: An EO may safely remain inside an aluminum container for up to 3 months, but if storing longer than 3 months the oil should be transferred to amber glass. Fragrances and carrier oils up to 8 lbs. may remain inside HDPE plastic bottles indefinitely. If the customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring a product to glass this should be done. ALL PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED BY WEIGHT, THUS, SOME CONTAINERS MAY BE FILLED HIGHER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY OF EACH PRODUCT.

    Raw materials/ingredients are dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

    HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of the butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
