    Botanical Name: Tsuga canadensi

    Plant Part: branch/leaf

    Country of Origin: Canada

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

Spruce (Picea).  Family: Pinaceae.  There are a number of different trees that are called Spruce including several that are called Firs.

    Black Spruce: Picea mariana.
    White Spruce: Picea alba.
    Norway Spruce: Picea excelsa.
Hemlock-Spruce: Includes Tsuga canadensis (Eastern Hemlock) and others.  These are widely known in N. America, the oil is inhaled for the respiratory system.

Tsuga Canadensis a/k/a Eastern Hemlock: The oil is pale yellow or almost colorless and has a very pleasant, balsamic-fresh odor with a peculiar sweet-oily and slightly fruity undertone. The odor characteristics can vary significantly according to the origin of the oil and to the nature of the botanical species used. Not to be confused with the herb hemlock! This is not Black Spruce (Picea mariana).

Recommended for relief of stress and anxiety. Also recommended for muscle aches and pains, aching joints, poor circulation and muscle spasms. This oil is inhaled for the respiratory system, helpful for bronchitis or asthma. Blends well with Orange, Lavender and Clary sage. Flash point: 108F.

    wonderful scent

This is an awesome scent! Probably best used in lotions or shampoos. It leans towards a male scent, but is elusive enough to be used in lotions or shampoos or soaps for women. It does not stick particularly well in soap--I had to round it out a bit with other scents to get it stickier--or, preferably use more than standard in cold or hot process soap (there is nothing that smells as good as just the spruce. I tried mixing it with cypress, bergomot (this was a nice mix) and orange. They are all fine--but...that spruce scent is just so lovely by itself. Plan on using double normal amount of EO and/or just use this in a lotion. It's beautiful. Simply beautiful.
    Much better than I expected

I ordered this oil because I tend to like tree oils and I was curious about it. I had no idea it would be so powerful and smell so good. I use one drop in my bath water and the aroma is intense. I read that Spruce helps the individual manage their physical energy by helping to listen to the body's rhythms and needs. I use many different essential oils and it seems like they all help the body to heal or regulate itself at a higher level. I'm glad I found the C-G Spruce because it's another amazing oil in my arsenal for health and well-being.

After trying many different kinds of spruce and fir oils, I have finally found my favorite in this one. It brings home the real smell of the forest with its concomitant effect of calming and uplifting properties. A true evergreen in a bottle!

This is just what you would expect spruce oil to smell like-woody, crisp and clean. I used it in a wood blend in cp soap and had no problems at all. Smells great.
    Customers love this!

I looked for the "right" evergreen scent for quite a while and this one is perfect. Customers love it in CP soap and we've had requests for it in lotion. They say it smells like Christmas!

Smells like Christmas Wreaths I put on my door. Compared to other woodsy or piney scents, its slightly sweeter and definitely one of the stronger ones. Best for Christmas or mixes.

I was surprised at how great this smelled. I needed a pine scent for my CP soap recipe, but I tried this spruce EO and it smells wonderful. I closed my eyes when I inhaled and saw myself on a Christmas carriage ride searching for the yule log! It was a big success in the soap and I will definitely continue purchasing in the future!

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
